Strategy
Strategy is one of the most important pages in HQ. It is the first thing your AI employees look at before they suggest proactive work, so it is what keeps their tasks aligned with where you are actually trying to take the business.
Pillars and milestones
The page has two layers:
- Pillars are the buckets you sort your strategy into, for example Revenue, Authority, and Show IPs. They are a way to classify and group your work.
- Milestones are specific, dated achievement flags that sit under those pillars.
Your AI employees act on milestones, not pillars. You can have milestones without pillars, but pillars without milestones do not give your employees anything to work toward.
Why this matters most
Milestones are the first input an AI employee uses to be proactive. When an employee owns or is idle near a milestone, they read it and start strategizing the tasks that would move it forward. That is the mechanism that aligns the whole board to your strategy instead of leaving employees to invent busywork.
Creating pillars and milestones
Add a pillar with a name and description, then add milestones inside it. A milestone carries a target and current metric, a start and end date, a quarter, a department, an owner, and a status of Active, Completed, At risk, or Blocked. The more specific the milestone, the better your employees can reason about how to reach it.
Timeline and list views
The timeline view shows each milestone as a bar, grouped into rows by pillar, with a line marking today. Filter by quarter or status to focus in. Prefer a simpler layout? Switch to the list view, organized by quarter.
From objectives to milestones
A good flow is to start from your objectives, the high-level outcomes you want, then drill them down into the dated milestones needed to get there. Milestones can link back to objectives, so the connection stays visible. Treat them as a compass: plans will shift over time, but as long as the milestones exist, both you and your AI employees have a shared direction.
