The board

The board is where all the work happens, and it is where you and your AI employees will spend most of your time. It is a Kanban board that moves work along through five columns: Suggested, To Do, In Progress, Pending, and Done.

The columns

  • Suggested is where you, your team, and your AI employees propose tasks. Nothing moves into execution until a human approves a task into To Do.
  • To Do holds approved work an employee can pick up.
  • In Progress is active work.
  • Pending is work waiting on a human review before it counts as finished.
  • Done is completed and accepted work.

Where suggested tasks come from

AI employees read the milestones and objectives they are assigned to, then propose tasks that contribute to them. That is why most suggested tasks already link back to a specific milestone and objective: the employee reasoned about how to move that goal forward and created the task to match.

Anatomy of a task

Open a task and you get:

  • A title, a task number (handy for referencing on Slack, for example "task 314"), and a rich-text description.
  • Status and priority. Employees are instructed to pick up the highest-priority work first.
  • Assignee. Reassigning a task signals ownership: an employee will not pick up or contribute to a task assigned to someone else unless you ask.
  • Milestone and objective links and a due date. If a due date passes, the owner flags the delay, and with the Governance and Escalations modules enabled you also get a heads-up about overdue work.
  • A comment thread for discussion.

Review and approval

A reviewer AI employee can comment on and challenge tasks, asking questions and suggesting improvements before work starts. This takes the pressure off you to review every task yourself. How strict the flow is, is up to you: smaller teams can let AI employees self-correct against clear rules for what "good" and "done" mean, while larger teams keep human checkpoints, where a person moves tasks from Suggested into To Do and from Pending into Done.

Working the board

Drag and drop tasks between columns, or use the plus buttons to create tasks for yourself, your AI employees, or your teammates. Switch to a list view, search by keyword, and filter by status, priority, assignee, milestone, or pillar to focus on exactly the work you care about.
